Who we are, what we stand for, and the values that guide our work across the Sebei Sub-region.
Sabiny Transformation Initiative (STI) was formed to transform communities into strong, united, and influential partners in development. Our main agenda is to promote gender equality and equity, fight for the rights of women and the girl child, eradicate poverty through income boosting and capacity building, promote social justice and tranquility, keep girls in school, and fight early child marriages.
STI was formed after the realization that communities — especially women and girls — were wallowing in poverty and afflicted by injustice, calling not only for collective action but also a strong voice of women and girls to address these deep-rooted challenges occasioned by societal injustices and male chauvinism. STI enjoys a cordial working relationship with district stakeholders, development partners, and the community. We operate across the entire Sebei Sub-region, with offices at Plot 12, Union Building, Kapchorwa Sironko Road.
"A society where gender equality and respect for human rights is a culture."
"To promote gender equality through creating spaces for all to speak up, participate, and benefit from decision-making processes."
We recognize the innate worth of all people and the value of diversity — harnessing individual skills and competencies to work together toward our organizational purpose, and promoting mutual accountability.
We work to ensure equal opportunity for everyone — women, men, youth, and children — to exploit their full potential, ensuring our work impacts the lives of women, girls, and the general society.
We are accountable at all levels for the effectiveness of our actions to all stakeholders, maintaining credibility and good stewardship of financial, human, and other resources with a high level of integrity.
We respect all persons and ensure their self-worth, irrespective of differences in gender, race, colour, ethnicity, religion, ability, or otherwise.
The structure of the organization is threefold — from policy-making to day-to-day implementation.
Constituted by all registered and fully subscribed members — the organization's supreme policy and decision-making organ.
Five members elected from the General Assembly, responsible for policy formulation and supervision of the secretariat.
The technical staff responsible for implementing policies and the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Since 2016, Sabiny Transformation Initiative has played a crucial role in pushing for the realization of basic human rights for women and girls. Our advocacy efforts have led to the rights of women and girls being respected. STI is a household name in advocacy, women's participation in leadership and governance, women's rights, children's rights, and the economic empowerment of women in the sub-region.
Join us in building a society where gender equality and human rights are a culture.
